The concert will focus on the different periods and styles of the Argentine Tango from its origins in Buenos Aires in 1882 to the Golden Age of Tango in the 1930-50’s and finally the revolutionary age of Tango by Astor Piazzolla in the 1960’s. Alejandro Ziegler’s own compositions will round off the fascinating historical tour of this exciting, passionate and romantic style of music. Every piece of music is presented and explained, so the audience can understand the social context in which Tango developed.

Me Llamo Tango explores the soul of tango, not simply a lover’s tryst, but a venerable embrace of cultural solidarity and self-expression. This is the premier performance of the Debbie Goodwin Dance Company (DGDC), sponsored by the long-running, successful non-profit arts organization, Alma del Tango.
